A congenital ventricular septal defect is a hole in the wall between the two lower chambers of the heart (the ventricles).
There are several ways to fix a congenital ventricular septal defect, but surgery is usually required. During surgery, the surgeon will patch or Sew the hole shut using tissue from another part of your body or a medical device.
