The question of which type of pain is worse, childbirth or passing a kidney stone, is one that can be answered quite differently depending on who you ask and their individual experience. In general, however, the consensus seems to be that passing a kidney stone is typically more painful than childbirth.
Childbirth requires a long period of labor that generally presents increasingly strong contractions and intense pressure in the pelvis as the baby moves through the birth canal. Pain medications are often used to help manage this discomfort and many women report feeling relief after giving birth once they realize they've successfully delivered their child safely.
On the other hand, passing a kidney stone involves excruciatingly sharp pains as it passes through your urinary tract system. When experiencing this kind of pain, people tend to describe it as like having knives constantly stabbing them in different places throughout their lower abdomen or bladder area with each movement they make - including coughing or walking around - intensifying the level of discomfort exponentially each time until finally passed out through urination (or surgery). Most people agree that while child birth can last several hours over days (for natural delivery) if not weeks for some cases leading up to medical interventions; passing a kidney stone tends to only last anywhere from 20 minutes up to 2 hours but at its peak it's much more intense than any moment during labor and does not fade away between surges like childbirth does.
At the end of day though if asked what kind of pain is worse subjective opinions may vary based on an individuals own personal experience with either phenomenon-- but for most people passing a kidney stone will likely feel much more excruciating due its sudden onset and intensely heightened levels rather than being spread out over such extended periods like with labor giving someone time moments between contractions where they could take breaks/rests even if just brief ones before things ramped back up again another surge began.
