Girls experience mood swings because of the fluctuation of hormones within their bodies. This can be a result of several factors, like changes in estrogen and progesterone. During puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause there is an increase or decrease in hormones that can cause emotional ups and downs.
At certain points during a female’s life-cycle she may feel more sensitive to her environment which results in an increased likelihood for mood swings due to her changing physical state. Additionally, some women are more prone to emotional fluctuations due to genetics or simply being extra sensitive from past experiences.
It’s important for girls (and anyone) experiencing frequent mood swings to take care of themselves by getting enough restful sleep each night as well as engaging in regular physical activity that gets their endorphins flowing. Eating healthy meals regularly will also keep energy levels up throughout the day so they don't become too tired or overwhelmed by their emotions. Finally, developing positive coping mechanisms such as yoga and meditation can help manage stress when it begins piling up!
