Estrogen is responsible for the development of female sexual characteristics, such as breasts and hips. Progesterone is responsible for the preparation of the uterus for pregnancy. Eggs are released from the ovaries into the fallopian tubes, where they may be fertilized by sperm and implant in the wall of the uterus.
