Doctor Answer is medically reviewed by SecondMedic medical review team.
Jill had been feeling unwell for weeks. She’d been experiencing sharp, sudden pains in her abdomen that were coming and going with no real pattern. At first she thought it was just a stomachache, but after the pain persisted she decided to visit her doctor.
At the appointment, Jill explained what she'd been feeling to the doctor who quickly diagnosed Jill with an abdominal aortic aneurysm - something she hadn't even heard of before. He said that it was caused by weakened or damaged artery walls in her abdomen which can lead to a bulge forming and potentially bursting if not treated properly. He also informed Jill of some common symptoms of an abdominal aortic aneurysm such as severe or persistent abdominal pain, back pain, nausea and vomiting.
Although scared at first, Jill took comfort from the fact that there are treatments available for this condition and started focusing on getting better soon so she could get back to living life normally again without any more worrying about these strange pains in her abdomen!
