Hematuria is a nursing diagnosis associated with a variety of conditions. Some common causes of hematuria are urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and glomerulonephritis.
Other causes of hematuria can include cancer, trauma, medications, and rare genetic disorders. When assessing a patient with suspected hematuria, nurses will ask about the patient's symptoms and perform a physical examination to look for signs of infection or other underlying conditions.
