One way to test for prostate cancer is to do a digital rectal exam (DRE). This is where your doctor inserts a gloved, lubricated finger into the rectum to feel for any abnormalities in the prostate.
Another way to test for prostate cancer is with a blood test called a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test. This tests the level of PSA in your blood. PSA is a protein that is produced by both normal and cancerous prostate tissue. A high PSA level may be a sign of prostate cancer.
