 Illusions are caused by actual physical stimuli, whereas delusions are psychological in nature.

For example, when you see a mirage in the desert, that is an illusion caused by the heat reflecting off the ground. However, if you think that your friends and family are out to get you, that is a delusion caused by your mind.
