ATOVASTRIN CV tablet, is used in the treatment of elevated cholesterol, triglyceride, lipoprotein. It works by inhibiting the hmg-coa reductase enzyme, which is helpful in cholesterol synthesis and reduces the plasma cholesterol levels, lipoproteins, ldl (bad cholesterol), and prevents clots in the blood vessels. You are advised to take this medicine with food as prescribed by your doctor. Medication should not be stopped unless told by your doctor. This medication will reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke.

The most common side effects of this medication include flatulence, indigestion, abdominal pain and constipation. If any of the side effects persist or worsen, you need to consult your doctor immediately. let your doctor know if you notice yellowing of the skin, muscle pain or dark urine.

Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant, have liver & kidney problems, have a bleeding disorder, and using any other medications. This medication is not recommended in pregnancy or while breastfeeding as it may harm the baby.
