Q. Why are heart palpitations a side effect of spiritual awakening?
Doctor Answer is medically reviewed by SecondMedic medical review team.
Heart palpitations are a common side effect of spiritual awakening, and refer to a conscious or unconscious sensation that your heart is pounding, racing, or skipping beats. This can be caused by a variety of physiological and psychological factors linked to the spiritual experience itself.
Physiological Factors: During times of intense growth in spiritual consciousness it's natural for our bodies to respond differently than they usually do. The body can go through changes such as increased blood pressure, faster breathing rate and heart rate variability (HRV). These physical changes may trigger an increase in cardiac output which results in the feeling of heart flutters and palpitations.
Psychological Factors: High intensity emotional experiences associated with spirituality can cause increased adrenaline production which causes heightened arousal levels resulting in the heart racing feeling. Additionally, feelings such as fear or anxiety surrounding challenges associated with spiritual awakening could also lead to rapid heartbeat sensations accompanied by an aching chest or tightness around the rib cage area -both symptomatic of an underlying issue that needs addressing.
Spiritual awakenings often involve deep transformation processes within oneself on many different levels –physical, mental, emotional and even energetic/spiritual- so it’s understandable why these bodily reactions exist as our bodies react instinctively during times when we must prepare ourselves for something big. Experiencing heart palpitations is quite normal during this period where you are learning how to adapt yourself spiritually into new environments and situations without having too much discomfort while doing so; therefore if you find yourself experiencing frequent episodes of heart palpitation don’t stress out too much because its just your body trying hard to adjust itself accordingly!
