A woman has the highest chance of getting pregnant during ovulation which usually occurs around days 11-21 of her menstrual cycle. For most women, this is approximately 11-14 days before their next period starts, but it can vary from woman to woman. Fertility is typically highest on the day of ovulation and one day prior or one day after. During these days, a woman can increase her chances by having unprotected intercourse around the time she ovulates as sperm can live up to 5 days inside a female's body whereas an egg lives only 12-24 hours after its release. It’s important to note that even during peak fertility times, pregnancy may not occur due to various factors such as age or health concerns that could affect a couple’s ability to conceive. It’s always best for couples trying to get pregnant to talk with their doctor and make sure they are aware of any potential risks before attempting conception so they can be informed when making decisions about their reproductive health care.
