Q.

What is exactly the meaning of "Vascular enhancement" in MRI scans? I had an acute pain in the left abdomen and it didn't go away for a long time. Recently I had the recurring of that same pain. Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause?

Vascular enhancement in MRI scans refers to the appearance of certain structures and vessels that can be seen on the scan. In this case, it is important to look for any signs of vascular abnormalities and blockages which may cause your abdominal pain. Blockages or occlusions in larger blood vessels of the abdomen due to thrombosis (blood clot) as well as inflammation of smaller arteries can both cause acute abdominal pain. Additionally, blockage or narrowing in other major organs like the kidneys, pancreas, spleen or colon can have similar symptoms with recurring pains.
Therefore, an MRI scan would be beneficial in determining if any such conditions exist that could explain your recurrent abdominal pains. A radiologist could further help you interpret these findings better and diagnose a possible condition responsible for causing your symptoms.
