It could mean a lot of things, but one common abnormal heart beat is atrial fibrillation.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a type of arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat. It's caused by disorganized electrical signals that start and stop firing chaotically in the upper chamber of your heart (the atria). This can lead to blood pooling and clots forming in the atria. If a blood clot breaks free and travels to your brain, it can cause a stroke.
