In an ICU unit, nurses are required to think critically while adapting quickly in order to provide the best care possible for their patient. They must understand complex medical terminology as well as new treatments while keeping up with a wide variety of medications and treatments needed for each individual patient's needs. Furthermore, they need to be able to assess each patient’s condition rapidly so that any changes can be identified promptly and addressed immediately if necessary. In addition to all of these challenges, working long hours on your feet is commonplace when it comes to being an ICU nurse!

You also get great satisfaction from having completed your job correctly and feeling proud knowing that each day you have put everything into practice so somebody else can benefit from your care.
