It helps in decreasing the urge to urinate and continue with the everyday lifestyle. The nasal spray should be used as per the doctor’s direction. Before using the spray, gently blow the nose. While blowing medication in one nostril, close another nostril. It should be sniffing hard to reach deep into the nose.
Noctiwin is given as nasal spray to increase the absorption. It also shows rapid action in controlling thirst and urge to urinate often. Desmopressin also acts on the kidney, thereby reducing the frequency and amount of urine formation. It does not cure the bedwetting but helps in preventing nocturia.
Inform your doctor if you have siadh (hormone secretion disorder where there is an overproduction of a hormone causing fluid retention, resulting in weakness and tiredness or confusion).
Common side effects of noctiwin are irritation, discomfort to the nose, sneezing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and fever. These side effects are usually minor and not severe but inform the doctor if they do not subside.
Fluid intake should be limited to a minimum of one hour before the treatment. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding because this medicine is contraindicated.
