Yes, functional dyspepsia (FD) can go away. FD is a condition characterized by chronic or recurrent pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen without an organic cause. Generally speaking, most cases of FD will resolve with appropriate lifestyle changes such as avoiding certain triggers that make your symptoms worse. It’s also important to understand the psychological and social factors that may be at play since many people with FD have anxiety, depression, and/or stress which can contribute to their symptoms.

Lifestyle modifications for relieving functional dyspepsia include:
• Eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day
• Avoiding smoking cigarettes or other tobacco products
• Eating slowly and taking breaks during meals to prevent overeating
• Drinking adequate water daily (8-10 cups of water per day)
• Regularly exercising for 30 minutes every day; moderate exercise such as walking has been shown to be beneficial in reducing stomach problems associated with Functional Dyspepsia
• Avoiding caffeinated drinks such as coffee, tea, soda etc., especially late at night when they can lead to indigestion and heartburn
• Reducing intake of alcohol and spicy foods which are known triggers for Functional Dyspepsia symptoms

Additionally, medications may help treat functional dyspepsia including proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), H2 blockers antacids, antispasmodics , antidepressants like citalopram , tricyclic antidepressant agents like amitriptyline etc., psychological therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT)etc... All these interventions work by targeting different aspects of this disorder & helps reduce its severity & duration!
