Retina is the light sensitive layer of tissue that lines the back of the eye. The retina converts light into electrical impulses that are sent to the brain where they are interpreted as images.
The retina is made up of three types of cells: rods, cones, and ganglion cells. Rods and cones are responsible for color vision and detecting detail, while ganglion cells transmit information to the brain.
