A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye that affects vision. Cataracts are often associated with aging, but can also be caused by other factors such as injury, infection, or exposure to radiation. Symptoms of cataracts may include blurred vision, increased glare, poor night vision, and a decreased ability to see colors.
Cataracts can be treated with surgery to remove the cloudy lens and replace it with an artificial lens. However, not all cataracts require surgery and some cataracts may improve over time without treatment.
