The answer to this question is complex and highly individualized. On one hand, chemotherapy may be an important part of a cancer treatment plan, offering the best chance of successful elimination of cancerous cells and prolonging life expectancy. On the other hand, there are potential risks and side effects associated with chemotherapy that must be weighed against its potential benefits.

One thing we know for sure is that chemotherapy can buy extra time for those living with cancer. It does this by killing cancer cells or stopping them from dividing so they can’t spread within your body or form new tumors in other organs. Chemotherapy drugs can also help reduce the size of a tumor before surgery or radiation therapy and improve treatment outcomes after these therapies have been used.

However, it’s not all good news when it comes to chemotherapy; some people report feeling unwell during their treatments as well as experiencing long-term side effects such as fatigue, hair loss, nausea & vomiting, fertility issues etc depending on what type of drugs were used. In some cases patients may decide to try alternative treatments if possible due to these risks associated with more traditional methods such as chemo/radiation/surgery - although again this should always be done under medical supervision/advice from your primary care doctor who knows you best!

Ultimately each person's experience will vary greatly based on factors like age & health history but overall there are many anecdotal reports about how effective chemo can be - especially when paired with other forms of treatment such as radiation & surgery - and therefore it's worth discussing further with your healthcare team before making any final decisions about whether this option would work best for you or not!
