It is not entirely normal to have nipple discharge, even though it can be caused by several conditions. It is important to speak with your doctor right away if you notice any kind of unexplained discharge from your nipples, as it could be a sign of a more serious condition.
In particular, this type of nipple discharge might be due to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), an endocrine disorder that affects 6-10 percent of reproductive-aged women. Common PCOS symptoms include irregular menstrual periods, excess hair growth on the face and/or body, acne flare-ups, weight gain or difficulty losing weight, thinning hair on the scalp and other hormonal imbalances. Nipple discharge in women with PCOS may be related to elevated levels of hormones such as testosterone or prolactin or from tumors in the breast caused by overproduction of these hormones.
If you've been diagnosed with PCOS and are having changes in your cervical mucus consistency or color that cause you concern or worry pursue medical evaluation immediately because this phenomenon may indicate a potentially severe underlying health issue called cancerous processes like Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS). A diagnostic mammogram should always follow when there is abnormal nipple discharges accompanied by pain , lumps , scars , tenderness etc., The timely diagnosis along with proper treatment can reduce mortality rates substantially when compared with late diagnoses cases. Treatment options vary depending on severity and patient's individual circumstances but generally involve tamoxifen therapy combined with radiation therapy and/or medications targeting hormone production such as metformin, clomiphene citrate etc.. Surgery can also be performed if needed depending upon the findings through all above aforementioned investigations .
Overall it’s always best practice for any woman who experiences ongoing changes in her breasts such as overall enlargement involving one side only ;lumpiness ; persistent red discoloration around the area; change in shape; increased number & size of dilated veins; dimpling , itching eyes etc . seek out medical attention at once since early investigation plays key role for successful clinical outcomes .
