Yes, a cancer stage 4 (liver) patient can get cured. Treatment for stage 4 liver cancer depends on the individual case and may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy and other innovative treatments. Surgery is often the first line of treatment for those with localised tumors and can be effective in providing long-term remission or cure.
Chemotherapy has been found to be effective when combined with radiotherapy in locally advanced liver cancers if it is performed within 12 weeks after diagnosis or prior to any significant tumor growth. Immunotherapy uses drugs to help the immune system recognise and fight cancer cells more effectively while radiation therapy may also be used in some cases before surgery as an additional form of treatment or as an alternative to it.
Other innovative treatments such as cryoablation are also increasingly being used which involves freezing tumours using probes inserted through needles into the skin that deliver cold gas directly into a tumour mass causing tissue death without affecting surrounding healthy tissues and organs. Finally novel therapies like biologic agents manufactured from natural sources such as plants, animals, bacteria are also being developed which target specific molecules involved in the spread of cancer cells throughout the body.
Overall there is hope for stage 4 liver cancer patients but it is important that they seek out medical advice from their healthcare provider early on so that a successful tailored treatment plan can be established for them taking into account factors such as age, overall health condition etc..
