Zy is used to treat malaria, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, discoid lupus, erythematosus and other skin conditions caused due to uv light exposure. Zy works by concentrating into the malarial parasite and inhibiting haem's polymerization, which is harmful to the parasite. Zy is not effective against chloroquine-resistant strains of p. Falciparum.
Take medicine as prescribed by the doctor. Do not miss the dose even if you feel better. Take medicine with food to avoid stomach upset and for better efficacy. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine it may cause severe side effects. Do not stop the medicine unless told by your doctor.
Zy's most common side effects are anaemia, decreased platelet count, low wbc count, ventricular arrhythmias, retinopathy, deafness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and fatigue. Inform your doctor if the side effects get worsen. Your doctor may advise certain tests before and after the treatment to check for these issues
Zy should be used with caution in patients on oral hypoglycemic agents as it may lead to severe hypoglycemia, which may be life-threatening.
Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant, have liver & kidney problems, and use any other medications.
