Ondansetron syrup is an antiemetic medication used to treat nausea and vomiting caused due to surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and stomach/intestinal infection by blocking the action of serotonin. This natural substance cause nausea and vomiting.
This medication may cause side effects such as headache, constipation, diarrhoea, and fatigue. Although, these effects may subside once children get adapted to it. Inform your doctor if these effects bother or worsen your child's condition.
This medication is given 1 to 2 hours before a radiotherapy session or surgery to prevent your child from vomiting.
Before giving this medication, inform your doctor if your child has any liver & kidney problems and other medicines. Inform your doctor if your child has constipation. And also, inform your doctor if your child has any heart problems and low electrolytes.
