VALPROL-CR tablet are used to treat epilepsy/seizures/fits. it works by decreasing the electrical activity in the brain and increasing a chemical substance called gaba, which helps to provide a calming effect and suppress seizure activity. sodium valproate and valproic acid tablet are used alone or in combination with other medications. take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. you are advised to follow caution as excess consumption leads to serious adverse effects. do not stop this medication unless told by your doctor. alcohol consumption needs to be avoided while on this medication as it may lead to an increased risk of seizures.
this medication's most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, weight gain, loss of appetite, gum swelling, headache, sleepiness, tremor, hair loss, and liver injury. if the symptoms persist or worsen, you need to consult your doctor immediately.
your doctor may monitor blood counts and liver function regularly. inform your doctor if you develop fever, stomach pain, nausea, or yellowing your eyes or skin. please do not stop taking this medication suddenly, as it may lead to rebound seizures with increased frequency.
before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant, have liver & kidney problems, and use any other medicines. this medication is not recommended in pregnancy or while breastfeeding as it may harm the baby.
