Tojawa ointment is an antibiotic medicine used to treat bacterial infections of the eye and eyelids. It works by stopping bacterial growth in the eye by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions; this treats your eye infection. It may also help to prevent an infection after an eye injury or surgery.
This medication dose and duration will be given based on your medical condition as prescribed by the doctor. This medicine is for external use only. Hold the tube and place the medicine inside the lower eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the tube and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Before using this medication, check for direction. Wait at least 5 minutes before applying any other eye medication.
Do not stop using this ointment until you have finished the complete course, even if you feel better. Medication must not be stopped unless told by your doctor. Stoppage of this medication too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening. Do not use this medication for a longer period as it may lead to damaged cornea.
The most common side effects are temporary eye irritation, burning sensation, itching, and redness after administration. Do not wear contact lenses while using this medication as it leads to serious side effects.
