Stimufol tablet is an aromatase inhibitor. It blocks the conversion of androgens to estrogens by competitively binding to the haem of the cytochrome p450 subunit of the aromatase enzyme and inhibits the biosynthesis of estrogen in all the tissues. Thus inhibits the growth of breast cancer.
Stimufol tablet alleviates the symptoms of breast cancer such as breast lumps, bloody discharge from the nipple, or changes in the shape or texture of the breast. It works by decreasing the amount of estrogen (natural female hormone) produced in the body. The decreased estrogen can slow down or stop the growth of some breast cancers, which helps to grow. In addition, it is also helpful in infertility, whereby it increases the release of certain hormones to stimulate the release of eggs from the ovaries.
The most common side effects of this medication are hot flashes, fatigue, increased sweating, and increased level of cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia). Consult your doctor if any of these side effects may bother you. Your doctor may find specific ways to reduce or prevent them. Complete the entire course of treatment as long as it is prescribed.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you ever had liver or kidney disease or a history of osteoporosis (thinning or wasting of bones. Also, tell your doctor if you are taking any other medications as it may make the medicine less effective or change the action. You need to inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if you plan to have surgery or an anaesthetic, and notify your doctor if you are currently receiving or are planning to receive dental treatment. Inform your doctor if you have had any previous history of allergy to this medication. Your doctor may perform blood tests to check vitamin d or bone density levels before and during treatment.
