Pregamet-sr includes a form of vitamin b used to treat vitamin b12 deficiency. It helps produce myelin, a substance that protects nerve fibres and rejuvenates damaged nerve cells. There is an anticonvulsant and anxiolytic medication that decreases pain by regulating the calcium channel activity of the nerve cells. Together, the medication helps in relieving neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).
It is used to treat long-lasting (chronic) pain caused by nerve damage due to diabetes, shingles or spinal cord injury. It relieves pain and its symptoms, such as mood changes, sleep problems, and tiredness. Regular consumption of this medication will improve your physical & social functioning and overall quality of life. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. Complete the full course of treatment as long as it is prescribed, even if you feel better. Don’t quit the treatment suddenly without consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of Pregamet-sr are dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do any activity that requires mental concentration until you know how this medicine affects you. The side effects are light and usually resolves with time. As the medications cause weight gain go for regular exercise and include a balanced diet to control it. Consult your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood or behaviour, new or worsening depression, or suicidal thoughts.
You need to inform your doctor if you are on other medications, as it may cause interactions. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, intend to be pregnant, or breastfeeding.
