Oxyspas tablet is an antimuscarinic. It acts as a competitive antagonist of acetylcholine at postganglionic muscarinic receptors, relaxing the urinary bladder muscles and preventing frequent, urgent, or uncontrolled urination. Oxyspas tablet helps treat uncontrollable contractions (spasms) of the bladder muscles that cause frequent urination, urge to urinate, and inability to control the passing of urine. It also reduces painful or frequent urination and reduces the urgency to urinate with some urinary tract infections.
The most common side effects of this medication are dry mouth, constipation, diarrhoea, and headache. Drink plenty of water to reduce these side effects. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects may bother you or persists for a prolonged duration.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any problems with your liver, kidneys. Also, tell your doctor if you are taking any other medications for the disease. You need to inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant or breastfeeding. You must avoid alcohol consumption as it may increase the risk of side effects. It may cause dizziness and blurring of vision. Don't drive or do any activity that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you. Inform your doctor if you have a previous history of allergy to this medication.
