Methimez tablet is an anti-thyroid medication. It works by blocking the excessive production of thyroid hormones from the thyroid gland, thereby preventing hyperthyroidism symptoms. Methimez tablet reduces the synthesis of thyroid hormone in the body and helps relieve hyperthyroidism symptoms. These include palpitations, feeling anxious, sweaty or shaky, and being intolerant to heat. These help to improve general health & increases the quality of life. For the appropriate benefit, take the medication as prescribed.
The most common side effects of this medication are skin rash, nausea, vomiting, joint pain, paresthesia, loss of taste, loss of hair, muscle pain, headache, and drowsiness. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist for a prolonged duration or get worse. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney diseases, congenital disorders, hypothyroidism, blood disorders like agranulocytosis (lowered white blood cell count), thrombocytopenia, and pancreatitis. Also, tell your doctor if you are taking any other medications for the disease.
You need to inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be a pregnant or breastfeeding mother. You may feel sleepy or dizzy while taking this tablet. Hence, do not drive or operate machinery until you are mentally alert.
Inform your doctor know if you have a previous history of allergy to methimez tablets and have experienced unwanted reactions like wheezing or difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue or other parts of the body, rash, itching, or hives on the skin.
