Description

Met XL 3D 25/6.25 Tablet is an anti-hypertensive medicines used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) thereby reducing the chances of heart problems such as heart attack and stroke. High blood pressure is a condition in which the blood exerts increased pressure on the walls of blood vessels. Symptoms include headache, dizziness, nose bleeds, changes in vision, chest pain, weakness, and dyspnea (shortness of breath Met XL 3D 25/6.25 Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Chlorthalidone, Metoprolol Succinate and Telmisartan which lower blood pressure effectively. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic which removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body through urine. Over time, it also works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow. Metoprolol Succinate is a beta blocker that works specifically on the heart to slow down the heart rate, while Telmisartan is a calcium channel blocker which works by blocking the hormone angiotensin to further relax blood vessels.

Directions for use

•  It should be taken as directed by your doctor and in the prescribed quantity.
•  Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
•  It would be best if you take it at a fixed time for optimal results.

Safety Information

•  Tell the doctor about the medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid possible interaction.
•  If you have missed any dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule.
•  It may cause more frequent urination. Take it at least 4 hrs before bedtime to avoid waking up to urinate.
•  It may cause the level of potassium in blood to go up. Avoid taking potassium- rich foods such as banana and broccoli.
•  It may cause dizziness. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
•  It may cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and inform your doctor if you develop extreme thirst, muscle weakness or very dry mouth.
•   Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor.
•  Limit intake of dietary sodium chloride
•  Do regular exercises and keep body weight in control
•  Regularly monitor blood pressure
•  Quit smoking
