MEFLOC tablet is an antimalarial medicine used to treat malaria. it belongs to a group of medications called quinolones. it kills the infection-causing parasite and stops the further spread of infection.
MEFLOC tablet takes it only as prescribed and refrain from taking any other medicines along with this medicine as they may affect its absorption. follow caution as excess consumption of this medicine may lead to serious adverse effects.
the first dose of this medicine is 3 tablets, followed by a second dose of 2 tablets, 6 to 8 hours later. the total dose is usually 5 tablets. the length of the therapy depends on your medical condition. it can take up to three months to prevent malaria. alcohol consumption needs to be avoided while on this medicine as it may lead to severe liver damage.
the most common side effects are stomach pain, abnormal dreams, chills, depression, diarrhoea. if these symptoms persist for a longer duration, consult your physician immediately.
before taking this medication, you have to inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intended to be pregnant or have severe renal impairment and liver problems.
