Lioton is used to treat percutaneous thrombophlebitis and treat bruises and hematoma (pool of blood under the skin). It works by dilating the blood vessels and dissolves the blood clots. It increases blood flow to the affected area, thereby relieving the associated symptoms. This medication is mainly used with benzyl nicotinate as it dilates the blood vessels under the skin. Use it as directed by the physician to get maximum benefit.
It dissolves the clots and also relieves the pain and inflammation by increasing the blood flow. It improves the overall healing process. The condition usually improves on its own. However, your doctor might recommend applying heat to the painful area, elevating the affected leg, using an over-the-counter painkiller, and possibly wearing compression stockings.

Lioton ointment is generally safe to use with minimal or no side effects. Please consult your doctor if it does not subside or persists for a longer duration. Avoid contacting this medicine with broken skin. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water if you get it in your eyes, mouth, or damaged skin. Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are using any other topical medications, as it may cause interactions.
