Levera is used in the prevention and management of seizures. This medicine works by decreasing the abnormal electrical responses in the brain. Levera oral solution is most commonly given to children and adolescents who have difficulty swallowing the tablet or capsule. The dose and frequency of levera oral solution depend on the age and body weight of the children and adolescents. The doctor generally advises long-term treatment.
Give the medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Do not miss the dose even the child feel better. Continue giving the medicine unless the doctor advises you to stop. You should give this medicine with or without food. The most common side effects of levera include exhaustion, headache, risk of infection, increased blood pressure, sleepiness, drowsiness, fatigue, loss of appetite, weakness, and cough. If the side effects persist or worsen, then inform the doctor immediately.
Monitor blood pressure regularly, especially in children under four years of age, and monitor behavioural changes regularly. Do not discontinue the medicine without the doctor’s advice, as it may increase the frequency of seizures. The patient may develop anaemia while taking this medicine. So, you should give iron-rich foods. Inform your child doctor if the child is suffering from kidney or liver disorders or other medications.
