Lariago tablet is an antimalarial medication that prevents the polymerization of heme into hemozoin (a food source for the malarial parasite). It forms a drug-hemozoin complex, and this complex caps the polymerizing chain, thereby preventing additional polymerization. Along with the prevention of polymerization, the free heme accumulates in the food vacuole, exerting its toxic effects on the parasite. This kills the parasite and stops the spread of infection.
Lariago tablet is used to treat malaria, a serious or life-threatening illness caused by the bite of an infected mosquito. Through the mosquito bite, the parasite enters into the human body and spreads the infection. It kills the infection-causing parasite and thereby stops the spread of infection. Continue the medication as prescribed and refrain from taking any other medications along with this medicine (unless advised by the doctor) as they may affect its absorption. Don’t use this medicine for treating any other condition without consulting your doctor.
Don’t skip the dose. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and complete the entire course of treatment as long as it is prescribed, even if you feel better and don’t quit the medication suddenly without consulting the doctor as it may result in treatment failure and increase the side effects too. Sudden stoppage of the treatment makes the bacteria survive, and infection may relapse. Take necessary precautions to avoid the chance of mosquito bite by using insect repellent creams on parts of your body not covered by clothing. Also, spray mosquito repellent to kill any mosquitoes that may have entered rooms despite screening. Wear light-coloured and covered clothing when you are outside after sunset.
