Faronem tablet is an antibiotic primarily used to treat lung and urinary tract infections. It can also be used to treat skin and gynaecological infections. It is usually used for infections that have not gone away with other antibiotics. Faronem tablets kill the bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial cell wall, which is necessary for survival. Faronem tablet is the only drug in its class that can be taken by mouth.
It can be taken with food. The dose and duration of treatment depend on the severity of the infection and how you respond to the medication. Take it at the same time each day and complete the entire course even when you feel better. If you stop taking this medicine too soon, the infection may reoccur or worsen.
The most common side effects of this drug are rash, nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhoea. It is usually mild and goes away on its own, but if it bothers you or lasts longer, consults your doctor.
Before use, you should inform your doctor if you are allergic to antibiotics or have kidney or liver problems. Tell your doctor about any other medicines you may be taking, as these may affect or be affected by this medicine. Pregnant and lactating mothers should consult their doctor before use to avoid harmful effects on the baby.
