emtri-jr tablet belongs to the class of medications called protease inhibitors. it works by inhibiting both human immunodeficiency virus proteases (hiv-1 &hiv-2), making the enzyme incapable of producing gag-pol polyprotein precursor required to produce new cells. therefore inhibition of this enzyme leads to the production of non-infectious immature hiv cells.
emtri-jr is not a cure for hiv or aids. it decreases the production of new viruses and increases the quality of life.
