Doxrid is a tetracycline antibiotic used to treat many types of different infections caused by bacteria. These include blood, brain, lungs, bones, joints, urinary tract, stomach, and intestines infections. You can also use it to treat sexually transmitted diseases. Doxrid works by inhibiting the protein synthesis required for the growth of bacteria. It inhibits the growth of the bacteria causing the infection, thereby stops the further spread of infection. Ensure that all bacteria are killed, and they do not become resistant.
The most common side effects of this medication are nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects may bother you. These are usually temporary and resolved with time. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. Complete the entire course of treatment and don’t quit the medication even if you feel better. Sudden stoppage of the treatment makes the bacteria survive, and infection may relapse.
The dose calculation depends upon the underlying illness. Continue to take the medications regularly as long as prescribed, even if your symptoms disappear quickly. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications for the disease. You need to inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant or breastfeeding.
Alcohol consumption needs to be avoided while taking this medicine as it may cause excessive drowsiness. It affects your ability to drive, as the tablet may blur your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur. Inform your doctor if you have had any previous history of allergy to this medication.
