Dilzem is a calcium channel blocker used to treat angina, high blood pressure and irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias). It mainly works by relaxing blood vessels which in turn lowers blood pressure. Thereby reducing the overall workload of the heart and makes it efficient to pump. By controlling the blood pressure, you can lower the risk of heart attack, stroke & kidney problems. The medicine must be taken regularly as prescribed by the doctor. It would help if you also made necessary lifestyle changes like taking a balanced diet, regular exercise, restricting salt intake to increase the effectiveness of this medicine.

You can take it with or without food. It is recommended to take at a fixed time. The dose and duration should be followed as prescribed by the doctor.
