demenzil is used in treating alzheimer's disease. it slows down the progression of moderate to severe forms of alzheimer by improving memory and thinking. demenzil is an n-methyl-d-aspartate (nmda) receptor antagonist. in alzheimer's disease, memory loss is due to excessive glutamate production in the brain mediated by nmda receptors. demenzil works mainly by preventing the action of nmda receptors and thereby regulating the production of glutamate.
