It works by stopping the synthesis of prostaglandins (prostaglandins are chemicals responsible for abdominal pain and inflammation pain). It cosists an anticholinergic medication that works by blocking the activity of a certain natural substance in the body and relieves muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal tract. Both medications help to relieve menstrual (period-related) pain and cramps. This medication is also used in the treatment of abdominal pain.
