Cafirate solution is a cns stimulant. It works by blocking the action of certain natural substances, which stimulates the brain and respiratory system in premature babies. Thus, it decreases breathing problems, and the baby can breathe easily.
This medication is given under the supervision of medical practitioners. It is given by mouth or via gastric feeding tube. Avoid coffee or cafirate product during breastfeeding because may pass into breast milk. Medication must not be stopped unless told by your doctor.
Common side effects are restlessness, headache, dizziness, increased heart rate, and insomnia (difficulty in breathing). If these symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor.
