Brintellix is antidepressant known as serotonin modulator and stimulator (sms) used in treating episodes of depression in adults. It helps in overcoming the sadness and feeling of worthlessness. It also helps in improving mood and energy levels. Brintellix can be taken with or without the food; it should be taken regularly at same time every day. The dose and duration of medicine should be followed as prescribed by the doctor. Treatment may continue even after six months of resolution of symptoms.
It may require few weeks to see or feel the benefits of this medicine. Do not change the dose and duration of the medicine on your own; this may worsen your condition.
Some common side effects of brintellix are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation. These side effects are usually minor and not so serious but inform the doctor if these side effects get worse. Inform your doctor immediately if you feel a sudden worsening of mood or any thoughts about harming yourself or if you do not feel any improvement of the symptoms.
Before taking brintellix, you should inform your doctor if you have mania, seizure, liver disease, kidney disease, taking antidepressants known as mao inhibitors, or using triptans or tramadol. These may interact with your treatment. Inform your doctor if you are a pregnant or breastfeeding mother.
