Betaloc is used in the treatment of high blood pressure, angina (chest pain), cardiac arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythm), prevention of migraine, long-term prophylaxis after myocardial infarction, and adjunctive treatment for thyrotoxicosis (overactive thyroid gland). Betaloc works by blocking the receptors in the heart, which are responsible for raising blood pressure. This medicine also relaxes the heart muscles.

The dose and frequency of betaloc depend on the severity of the condition. Do not increase or decrease the dose by yourself. Seek a doctor's advice. Take medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Do not miss the dose even if you feel better. Continue the medicine unless the doctor advises you to stop. You should take medicine with food. Eat a well-balanced diet, restrict your salt intake. Exercises need to be done regularly. Avoid smoking and alcohol while taking this medicine for a better outcome.

Betaloc's most common side effects include dizziness, headache, tiredness, depression, loose motions, rashes, itching, low heart rate, and shortness of breath. If the side effects persist or worsen, then inform the doctor immediately.

Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant, have liver & kidney problems, and use any other medications.
