alwel is a proton pump inhibitor class of medication. it is used to treat peptic ulcer disorder, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and other acidity-related diseases. it reduces gastric acid secretion by obstructing gastric parietal cells.
it is better to take small meals more frequently than a heavy meal and not take fatty or spicy food as it may irritate your stomach. alwel helps to prevent further serious conditions in future.
gastroesophageal reflux disease is a chronic condition where stomach acid & bile fluids go to the oesophagus and irritate. avoid taking any meals before 3–4 hours of going to bed. peptic ulcer disease is a painful condition in which sores and ulcers are formed in the stomach lining, usually caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or helicobacter pylori bacteria. these disturb the integrity of the stomach, raises acid production and cause ulcers.
do not use alwel for more than 1 year as it may increase the risk of bone fractures. consult your doctor for supportive treatment for osteoporosis. notify your doctor if you have any abnormalities related to liver, kidney, or osteoporosis. inform your doctor if you are taking any hiv medications. tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
the most common side effects of this medication are nausea, headache, flatulence, and diarrhoea. if these symptoms persist or worsen your condition, you need to consult your doctor immediately.
