altacef belongs to the class of 2nd generation cephalosporins used to treat infections in the nasal sinus, throat, ear, soft tissues, lungs, bones & joints, and urinary tract. it works by killing the bacterial cell functioning, thus reduces the infection in the body.
this medication's most common side effects are rashes, nausea, vomiting, increased liver enzymes, pain at the injection site, and diarrhoea. this injection is given to iv or im. do not skip any doses and complete the course as it may worsen the infection condition.
