AKT tablet is given in combination to treat tuberculosis. It works by prevents the growth of microorganisms that cause infection. rifampicin works by inactivating the bacterial enzyme needed for bacteria to make essential proteins and multiply. isoniazid prevents the growth of bacteria from protective covering. ethambutol works by slowing the growth of bacteria. Take this medication as prescribed by your doctor and complete the full course of medication. caution should be followed. excess consumption leads to serious adverse effects. Medication should not be stopped unless told by your doctor.
The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, rash, fever, dark-coloured urine, sweating, increased sputum production, salivation, increased liver enzymes, jaundice, gout, visual impairment, and peripheral neuropathy (tingling and numbness of feet & hand). If the symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor. Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication because it may lead to excessive drowsiness. Avoid driving after taking this medication because it may alter your driving ability.
Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or taking any other medications & having liver and kidney problems. your doctor may advise specific laboratory and diagnostic tests to know the effects of medicine on the body.
