Cetirizine is an antihistamine class of medication. It treats several allergic symptoms like watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and itching. It is also used to treat hay fever, urticaria hives, conjunctivitis, and the common cold.
Cetirizine works by blocking the histamine receptors and reducing the actions of histamine. Thus it reduces allergic symptoms. If your kid vomits within 30 minutes of receiving this medication, give the equal dose likewise, but avoid it if it’s already time for another dose.
The most common side effects of this medication are nausea, headache, muscle pain, edema, sleepiness, and dizziness. Most of these side effects persist for a shorter duration. If your child experiences them for a longer duration, inform your doctor immediately.
