Aristogyl syrup is an antibiotic used to treat various infections of the liver, stomach, intestines, vagina, brain, heart, lungs, bones and skin, which are caused due to some bacteria and parasites. It works by inhibiting the growth of the bacteria or parasites causing the infection.
This medication may cause side effects such as abdominal discomfort, abnormal taste in the mouth, diarrhoea, nausea, jarisch, herxheimer reaction, dizziness, headache, candida infection of the genital region, vaginal discharge, vaginal irritation, vaginosis, stevens-johnson syndrome, toxic, epidermal necrolysis, leukopenia, hepatic failure, hepatotoxicity, aseptic meningitis, encephalopathy, peripheral neuropathy, seizure, a disorder of optic nerve, ototoxicity, hemolytic uremic syndrome. Inform your doctor if these side effects bother or worsen your condition or persist for a longer duration.
Your doctor may advise certain tests if you are on this medicine for more than ten days.
The risk for severe skin reactions is within one week, generally, within 48 hours after the start of treatment. If you develop a severe rash, stop taking aristogyl syrup and contact your doctor or seek medical attention immediately.
