Oilatum is used to treat eczema and related dry skin conditions. It softens or soothes the skin by avoiding water loss from the skin's outer surface, thereby reducing the dryness and leaving the skin hydrated. It also forms a thin oil film over the skin's surface, which helps in retaining the moisture; it protects the skin from drying, chipping and getting scaley. Use oilatum lotion as per the doctor's direction. It should be used for the duration prescribed by the doctor, depending on a medical condition.
Common side effects include redness, irritation, and sensitization of the skin. Most of these side effects are minor and doesn't require medical attention. If these side effects worsen or persist for a long duration of time, please consult your doctor. Oilatum should not be used if you have a known history of allergy to it. Do not smoke or go near the flame; there is a high chance of catching fire.
