Ecosprin is used in the treatment of fever and pain. It is given to patients with unstable angina to prevent heart attack, stroke and in patients with a previous heart attack. Ecosprin act as a blood thinner that reduces the viscosity of blood by preventing platelets aggregation to form a clot. Take medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. The dose and frequency of the medicine depend upon the age and severity of the disease. Do not miss the dose even if you feel better. It is better to take medicine before food.
Caution must be followed as the excess dose may lead to serious adverse effects. This medication has to be taken for several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits. Medication must not be stopped unless told by your doctor. Alcohol consumption needs to be avoided while on this medication as it may lead to severe side effects such as increased stomach bleeding risk. Ecosprin's most common side effects include angioedema, constriction of bronchioles, rashes, itching, stomach ulcers, bleeding, abdominal pain, liver toxicity, hearing loss, nausea, and vomiting. If the side effects persist or worsen, then inform the doctor immediately.
Your doctor may advise certain tests on kidney functioning, liver functioning, blood count, ecg before and after the treatment.
Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant, have liver & kidney problems, and use any other medications.
